Established in 2005, Energy Resources LLC is a mining company with an aim to contribute to the social and economic development of Mongolia through integrated coal mining operation, value added production, premium quality coking coal products and stable position in the international market. It owns and operates Ukhaa Khudag coking coal deposit located in Tsogttsetsii soum of the Southern Gobi province of Mongolia. In August 2006, the Energy Resources LLC was granted with mining license MV-11952 for the Ukhaa Khudag coking coal deposit covering area of 2,960 hectares and mining at Ukhaa Khudag commenced in April, 2009. By now, the company stands as one of the largest coking coal producers of the country with a great potential and outreach to sustain successful development model at an international level. Adherence to the world class mining standards is visible in all stages of the company operation within the mission to enhance competitiveness of Mongolian brand name coking coal products at the world market. The company shareholders represent reputable international and domestic companies including MCS, the largest private holding group in Mongolia, Petrovis LLC, Shunkhlai Group and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, an international financial institution owned by 61 countries. With diverse range of expertise and market knowledge, Energy Resources LLC was able to reach the quickest ramp-up of mining operations in the country based on the best international practices. For core mining activities and key project components, the company also partners with high-class international contractors such as Leighton Asia and Sedgman from Australia. With the combination of advanced technical solutions, sound business model and effective international partnership, the company quickly turned the green-field project of Ukhaa Khudag project into a fast-paced operational success. Within a relatively short period of time, the operation at Ukhaa Khudag mine vigorously expanded its outreach through crucial infrastructure projects including Coal Handling & Preparation Plant, 18 megawatt power plant, 245 km paved road, water supply among many others.
