Mongolia continues the active implementation of the government program "Liberate" (Чөлөөлье), especially within the framework of the "Green Hub" (Ногоон өртөө) initiative. The companies "Monlogistics Group" and "Newcom" recently conducted successful tests, becoming the first in the country to carry out long-distance freight transport using a fully electric heavy-duty truck. This event took place from August 7 to 9, 2026, when the electric truck covered the route Ulaanbaatar – Zamyn-Uud – Ulaanbaatar, with a total length of about 1400 kilometers.

Technical Specifications and Environmental Impact

Equipment used: The tests involved a modern electric tractor with a high-capacity lithium iron phosphate battery.

Payload capacity: The total weight of the truck and trailer was 40 tons, with a useful payload capacity of up to 25 tons, which meets the standards for commercial freight transport.

Reduction of CO₂ emissions: Replacing a diesel truck with an electric one avoids the emission of about 1.2–1.5 tons of carbon dioxide per trip. With regular transport, this can lead to significant savings in harmful emissions amounting to hundreds of tons per year.

Economic benefit: The electricity consumption per kilometer was significantly lower than the cost of diesel fuel, highlighting the feasibility of transitioning to the electrification of the commercial vehicle fleet.

The electrification of the transport sector is becoming particularly important against the backdrop of price instability for traditional fuels. Such measures will help reduce the country's dependence on imported fuels and lubricants and stabilize transportation costs.
