Growth has proved “more durable than anticipated”, IMF Resident Representative Neil Saker told Reuters.

In 2016, Mongolia was hit by an economic crisis due to government overspending and declining revenue from commodity exports. Saker said the country is now headed toward recovery.

The IMF has raised its 2017 growth projection for Mongolia to 3.3 percent from 2.0 percent.

The Fund has dispersed $79.1 million from a $5.5 billion bailout fund to relieve the Northeast Asian country’s debt burden and stabilise the local currency.

Mongolia produces a third of the global supply, and cashmere makes up 40 percent of the country's non-mineral exports. The country trades MNT 700-800 billion of cashmere annually. Mongolia processes only 15 percent of cashmere domestically; the remaining 85 percent is exported. The primary global destination of processed cashmere is Italy.

To reach the mines greatest value, operations are now moving underground to develop a large block-caving operation. 14km of lateral tunnels have already been constructed with 200km of tunnels at a depth of up to 1300m to be built overtime.

BHP has largely quit mining coal for power plants but is the world's largest exporter of coal for steel-making. It will seek responses from the WCA over policy differences before making a final decision on whether to pull out in March 2018, it said.

The miner came under pressure from Australian green groups earlier this year to leave any industry associations with policies that fail to match the company's support of the 2015 Paris climate accord.

Following a review, BHP said on Tuesday it had "reached a preliminary view to exit" the WCA, as the global coal lobbying group had called for Australia to abandon a clean energy target to boost prospects for high-tech coal-fired power plants.

BHP said the association's policy conflicted with its view that energy markets should be fuel- and technology-neutral and take into account costs and benefits.

WCA Chairman Mick Buffier said the association was disappointed and did not feel the report accurately reflected the organisation's views.

"The WCA has always supported a balanced approach that integrates climate and energy policy," he said in an emailed statement. "We hope to be able to continue working with BHP on this basis in the future."

The WCA website carries a lead article entitled "A pathway to zero emissions from coal," which says clean coal technology will be needed as many countries, especially in Asia, rely on coal to drive economic growth.

BHP also plans to decide by March whether to withdraw from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce over differences on how to deal with climate change. BHP has been a member of the group, the largest U.S. business lobby, since 2011.

The chamber said it looks forward to discussing issues with BHP and that it represents a diverse membership. On curbing climate change, the group favours innovation over federal rules on emissions.

BHP also highlighted the chamber's opposition to a U.S. rule introduced in 2016 requiring resource companies to disclose all their payments to governments, as an area of difference with the company. BHP supported the rule.

The company also said it would press the Minerals Council of Australia to review its promotion of coal in Australia's energy policy and would reconsider its membership in a year's time unless changes were made.

On the secondary market for government bonds, 23,320 bonds with a value of MNT2.2 billion were traded.

On the secondary market for block trading of government bonds, 102,496 bonds with a value of MNT10.1 million were traded.

The MSE ALL Index increased by 1.42 percent to stand at 1,162.94 points. The MSE market cap stands at MNT2,456,589,386,479.

Tesla is trying to convince the trucking community it can build an affordable electric big rig with the range and cargo capacity to compete with relatively low-cost, time-tested diesel trucks. This is the largest public order of the big rig so far, Tesla said.

Tesla unveiled its semi last month and expects the truck to be in production by 2019.

The Tesla trucks will cost around $200,000 each for a total order of about $25 million. UPS expects the semi-trucks, the big rigs that haul freight along America’s highways, will have a lower total cost of ownership than conventional vehicles, which run at about $120,000.

Tesla has received pre-orders from such major companies as Walmart (WMT.N), fleet operator J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc (JBHT.O) and food service distributor Sysco Corp (SYY.N)

Prior to UPS, the largest single pre-order came from PepsiCo Inc (PEP.N), for 100 trucks.

UPS said it has provided Tesla with data on how its trucks function on their real-world routes in order to evaluate how the vehicle should perform in its fleet.

“As with any introductory technology for our fleet, we want to make sure it’s in a position to succeed,” Scott Phillippi, UPS senior director for automotive maintenance and engineering for international operations, told Reuters.

Phillippi said the 125 trucks will allow UPS to conduct a proper test of their abilities. He said the company was still determining their routes, but the semis will “primarily be in the United States.” Tesla will provide consultation and support on charging infrastructure.

“We have high expectations and are very optimistic that this will be a good product and it will have firm support from Tesla to make it work,” Phillippi said.

The UPS alternative fuel fleet already includes trucks propelled by electricity, natural gas, propane and other non-traditional fuels.

About 260,000 semis, or heavy-duty Class-8 trucks, are produced in North America annually, according to FTR, an industry economics research firm.

Including the UPS order, Tesla has at least 410 pre-orders in hand, according to a Reuters tally.

Navistar International Corp (NAV.N) and Volkswagen AG VOWG-P.DE hope to launch a smaller, electric medium-duty truck by late 2019, while rival Daimler AG (DAIGn.DE) has delivered the first of a smaller range of electric trucks to customers in New York.

In afternoon trade on Nasdaq, Tesla shares were down nearly 1.1 percent at $335.24.

Rights to enrich the data base and share their scientific works with others will be given to the scholars and scientists, noted Kh.Badelkhan, Minister of Construction and Urban Development and he handed over the key of data base to Ts.Gankhuu, Director of the ALAMGC.

"Proper planning which well adjusted to the site and area is required for construction of buildings and roads . Therefore we have compiled data base which included all regional features" said Director Ts.Gankhuu. The database is applicable in all fields such as mining, farming and animal husbandry, he underlined.

United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management was established in 2000 and Mongolia is working as vice chair of UN GGIM Asia-Pacific. Therefore Mongolia should work acitvely leading others to develop geospatial information system, noted the officials.

The National Statistics Office reported recently that Mongolia had exported 31.3 million tons of coal in the first 11 months of 2017, a dramatic 40 percent surge in volume. This was indirectly supported by a UN sanctioned sanction on North Korea, which caused China to ban the import of coal from the country, allowing Mongolia to step in and benefit from the gap that the ban had left.

It was seeming like coal exports to China would increase to an unprecedented level right until July, less than a month after the 2017 presidential election. It was then that the Chinese side started doubling-down on security at the Gashuunsukhait-Gants Mod border crossing, where 53 percent of Mongolia’s coal is exported through. Chinese officials cited security concerns, specifically arms and drugs smuggling, as a reason for the delay in passage of trucks.

This caused a long line of trucks to accumulate since July, reaching 130 kilometers at its peak. With no sign of any improvement and the harshest period of winter approaching, Minister of Mining D.Sumiyabazar decided to suspend the transport of coal from Tavan Tolgoi.

Mongolian Mining Corporation (MMC), listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, has observed a fall in their stock value. In August 2017, the company’s stock had reached 0.33 HKD, its highest this year. Currently, the stock of MMC is at 0.19 HKD.

Mongolia Energy Corporation stock is currently at 0.19 HKD, a decrease from the 0.31 HKD it was a year ago. The last two months have seen the most dramatic decrease in its stock.

SouthGobi Resources has seen a hit in its stock as well with the current valuation at 0.18 CAD on the Toronto Stock Exchange. In February, the company’s stock was valued at 0.46 CAD. The arrest of SouthGobi’s former chairman Aminbuhe played a major role in the company’s stock devaluation but the suspension is likely to aggravate the situation further.

Prophecy Development, which explores coal at the Ulaan Ovoo mine, has taken a hit, with its stock pricing at 4.25 CAD as of this week. In January, the company’s stock was 6.65 CAD.

Terracom, operating at the Baruun Noyon Uulcoking coal mine saw its stock price also decrease on the Australian Securities Exchange, with the stock currently valued at 0.18 AUD.
