96 licenses of widespread minerals revoked www.montsame.mn
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Governor of the capital has terminated the licenses of widespread minerals owned by 96 companies, who seriously violated laws.
In this regard, J.Batbayasgalan, Deputy governor for Green Development and Air Pollution, A.Davaajargal, head of Legal Department of the Governor’s office of the capital, E.Battulga, head of the Environmental Department of the capital and officials of the Specialized Inspection Department of the Capital City gave information to journalists.
This April, the Environmental Department of the capital and Professional Inspection Department of the capital revealed that 63 licensed companies had failed to perform environmental rehabilitation and have a license that overlap with protected area for drinking water source of Ulaanbaatar. In addition, 33 companies were disclosed that they had not yet started using the licensed land area for three years since the grant of the mining license. The professional organizations conclude that the delay of using the licensed area creates condition for license trade and other illegal activities. Therefore, the mayor made the above mentioned decision.
According to Article 37.1.3 of the Law on Widespread Minerals Law, governors of aimag and the capital have authority to revoke the license if the entity does not fulfill its obligation to make rehabilitation, based on conclusion made by the local administrative body or department of aimag and the capital city in charge of environmental affairs.
The officials noted that the capital authorities would not cooperate with business entities and organizations, who failed to fulfill their obligations before the citizens of the capital city and would charge with responsibility to citizens or entities for cause of damages to nature and environment of the capital intentionally or accidentally.
