A new, energy-efficient wastewater treatment plant has opened in the capital of Khentii province. The plant was built under additional financing for the ADB-funded Southeast Gobi Urban and Border Town Development Project and has an operating capacity of 3,000 cubic meters per day.
Member of Parliament Bat-Erdene Badmaanyambuu, ADB Deputy Country Director for Mongolia Declan F. Magee and State Secretary of the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development S. Magnaisuren inaugurated the new wastewater treatment plant in Chinggis city on September 13.
Advanced technologies of the treatment plant will enable the reuse of treated wastewater for city landscaping and sewage sludge for fuel briquettes.
This is the sixth of ten similar facilities to be constructed around the country under ADB-funded projects in Mongolia.
