Ulaanbaatar electricity distribution network to be expanded www.gogo.mn
Prime Minister G.Zandanshatar met with energy and economic officials on March 1, 2026 to review pressing issues in the sector and gave instructions.
Officials told the meeting that earthworks for the Fifth Thermal Power Plant project have begun and drilling is under way; construction is planned to start on the first of next month. The preliminary report also covered progress on the 660 MW Bayan power plant and proposals to expand the Ulaanbaatar city electricity distribution network.
The Prime Minister instructed the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development J.Enkhbayar, Minister of Energy B.Choijilsuren and Minister of Finance B.Javkhlan to draft a cabinet resolution outlining medium-term measures to ensure reliable, stable operation of the energy sector and to present it at a cabinet meeting this month.
