President of the Republic of Korea to Pay State Visit to Mongolia www.montsame.mn
At the invitation of President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung will pay a state visit to Mongolia from July 9 to 11, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea Kyung.
According to the Office of the President of Mongolia, the visit will mark the first state visit by a South Korean president to Mongolia in 15 years, following the previous visit in 2011.
During the visit, President Khurelsukh and President Lee will hold official talks on expanding and strengthening the two countries' Strategic Partnership, deepening economic cooperation, and enhancing collaboration on regional and international arena.
The two sides are also expected to sign a number of intergovernmental and interagency agreements aimed at broadening bilateral relations and cooperation.
President Lee and First Lady Kim will attend the opening ceremony of Mongolia's National Naadam Festival as honored guests.
Mongolia and the Republic of Korea established diplomatic relations on March 26, 1990. The Republic of Korea opened its embassy in Ulaanbaatar later that year, while Mongolia established its embassy in Seoul in 1991.
Bilateral ties have steadily deepened over the past two decades, with the two countries elevating their relationship to a Good Neighborly Friendship and Cooperation Partnership in 2006, a Comprehensive Partnership in 2011, and a Strategic Partnership in 2021.
